The UniFi Dream Machine by Ubiquiti Networks is an all-in-one, well, Dream Machine! Powered by a next-gen 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, the Dream Machine packs some pretty key features such as its’ built-in 4×4 Enterprise AP, integrated security gateway, pre-loaded Cloud-Key and managed 4-port gigabit switch.

The UniFi Dream Machine is truly a remarkable piece of hardware, especially at its’ unbeatable price coming in at $299 U.S. Dollars. It’s a great starting-point for the home enthusiast, D.I.Y.’er or all-out super-geek as it’s got the functions of numerous devices, otherwise purchased separately, jam-packed into one tiny, yet powerful machine.

I have installed and configured 3 UniFi Dream Machine’s for various clients’ of mine. Throughout these trials, my clients have reported very minimal connectivity issues using the integrated access point with otherwise flawless throughput.

I have deployed Dream Machine’s in various environments such as a barbershop, an old brick-and-mortar hotel (terrible when trying to deal with Wi-Fi and interference from the brick), as well as a medical office. Each and every one of those clients reported back with zero issues relating to the Dream Machine itself or and of the UniFi OS Software.

In each of these deployments, I used x1 UniFi Dream Machine, x2 UniFi Nano-HD AP’s, and x1 UniFi Switch Lite 8 PoE.

With that being said, I highly recommend this product to be used in a small home/office or even SOHO environment. For larger deployments, we recommend something more like the UniFi Dream Machine Pro or Pro SE.

Under the hood of this rocket, things are just waiting to take off.
